Junior Management Board
The Junior Management Board (JMB) was set up in July 1996 at the recommendation of the Railway Land Wildlife Trust. There are 4 - 6 meetings a year and JMB members sometimes attend the adult management committee meetings to contribute ideas.
Since it was set up, various members of the JMB have:
spoken to Michael Meacher, Minister for the Environment, on 19th April 1999.
given six one minute presentations from soap boxes to an audience of 200 at the official opening of a signal box mini hide by David Dimbleby on 15th May 1999.
written two children's leaflets for the site.
designed a wildflower entrance area opened by Norman Baker MP in 2005.
won a £23,000 Young Roots Heritage Lottery Fund award in 2007 to write and produce a water saving poster for young people and to restore a pond in the woodland that once stood in Leighside garden.
