The roof is now complete

Date: 18/02/2010
Three sections of roof have photovoltaic cells which will generate electricity. At this time of day in the morning in winter, the sun falls on this part of the roof. As the sun moves round, so it will fall directly on the other two sections of roof.

The Nature Corridors group visited the Pavilion wearing hard hats, yellow jackets and goggles in January and met Joe Michaels from JoJu Ltd who have put the photovoltaic cells on the roof.

The photovoltaic cells will power the ground source heat pump which will provide our hot water and underfloor heating.

The growing sedum roof will help to absorb heavy rainfall - in other words to slow its progress to the river Ouse. Cities and towns that absorb water in such ways to help slow its impact is one response to potential flooding events.
