So what is Blue/Green Infrastructure? The Town and Country Planning Association explains that it is not simply an alternative description for conventional open space. It includes parks, open spaces, playing fields, woodlands – and also street trees, allotments, private gardens, green roofs and walls, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and soils. It includes rivers, streams, canals and other water bodies.
In this three year project, funded by the National Lottery, we will be focusing on raising awareness of blue/green infrastructure and the benefits it brings communities. The project has a strong focus on engaging and empowering young people to have their voices heard and to take action, and on developing the capacity of local voluntary organisations to deliver learning and engagement events that promote an understanding of blue/green infrastructure.
We have recruited two Project Officers to deliver the project; you can read more about these roles here.
